Help For Those Who Feel Sad Or Lonely At Christmas
Not everyone looks forward to this time of year. In fact, some people actively dread it. I wrote the article below for those who find this a difficult and sad time of year and who feel lonely at Christmas – I hope it helps a little. You are not alone.
As the holiday season approaches not everyone feels filled with joy. Many people dread this time of year. There is a perception – sometimes true, sometimes not – that families everywhere are coming together in joyous union. We can imagine that people have more company, are less lonely and relish being part of an upcoming celebratory time. For many, though, this is not their experience of this season. Some people feel more alone….. Seasonal Joy or Lonely in a Crowd? Planning for Sad Times.
I really welcome your thoughts and comments below.
Hi Ruth, I hope that you are keeping in good spirits my friend, Yes I know of many who do not like this time of year Christmas,I know as a child it would be both happy and sad, as I know nearly every Christmas my Mother and Father would row and it would all end in tears…. As a child it was traumatic to the point I still shake when I hear anyone arguing..
I know I hope that my own children have bright memories of their Christmas’s even though in those early years we didnt have much in the way of gifts… Their fondest memory in fact was when I made a home made fort and a home made dolls house out of cardboard boxes and decorated them etc……
I enjoyed your post Ruth.. thank you for your Christmas wishes
I Hope too that you and yours enjoy a Peaceful and Healthy one my friend

Yes Sue, there are often great difficulties at this time of year. I’m sad that you had that childhood experience – these things are never far from us. I know you will have made your own family occasions very different though and sometimes this is all we can do – learn how not to do things. All good wishes to you for a very happy holiday and a peaceful New Year. I will see you in 2013! Much love to you, Ruth xx 🙂
